Useful for camping. I used it as a rug on the table at Pickwick State Park to provide a heat-resistant surface for the stovetop and small pots and pans in the dining room. I was also able to double the set of segments to create a flat surface on an undeveloped table when burning alcohol in any stove. It washes well and dries quickly. Also works as a windbreak. Might be a little heavier than I would like for backpacking but very comfortable for car camping or picnics. Works great on a back porch with a small butane gas stove when frying fish.
