Cut a 10mm hole in a boron steel body

I needed to drill a 10mm hole in a boron steel body. about 60s thick on my handheld cordless drill. Fun Facts: * It wanders around a bit when not in the drill - in my case I had a steel jig to hold the drill in place; he chewed the hole in the template about 1 mm larger. * Slow: Seems to work best at around 300 RPM. * Heavy: Seems to work best at around 5-10# pressure. * Increase the speed and decrease the pressure to break through - or it will rip out the workpiece and bend the steel sheet. I reduced the pressure to 1# and increased the RPM to 1000rpm for the second pass, which was much cleaner.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Long delivery time
