Review on ๐Ÿ’พ TC SUNBOW 2TB SSD - Enhanced SATA III 3D NAND Cache Performance, 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drive, Speeds up to 560MB/s by Colin Arcos

Pleasantly surprised and works well enough.

To be honest I didn't have high hopes for this drive at this price point, assuming it could only perform marginally better than traditional non-DRAM drives in this price range. As a general rule, I've found that DRAM drives are typically 128GB and non-DRAM drives are typically 120GB, as they use the difference for overprovisioning and (slower) caching. I'm happy to report that my expectations were wrong. While this drive isn't the best in its class, it's still much better than, say, the Kingston A400 or Western Digital Green SSD, and can compete with drives like the AData SU800 and the older Samsung 840 Evo. The 3D NAND itself is said to be 32-layer from Intel; This is older technology and probably the main reason why this disc can be manufactured and sold at a lower price. As far as comments about its slow speed or that it's a SATA 2 drive - it's not. Make sure the correct BIOS settings and drivers are installed; I tested mine on an older laptop that only uses SATA 2 and the much lower bandwidth is evident. Reliability is still a wild card; It's only been a few months for me, but for the price and performance, I've been fortunate enough to have purchased additional drives of various sizes to upgrade additional computers. Unless something big happens to a few devices in the future, that's 5 stars from me. ETA 09.11.19: Everything is fine since my first order in August. Now I've added some tests on a 120GB and a 480GB drive. These ATTO tests are now included; The published stats versus my test results are as follows: 120GB - 560 reads/385 writes published. My results: 530 reads/360 writes. 240GB - 560 reads/422 writes. My results are 530 reads/480 writes, 480GB is 330 reads/320 writes. My results: 530 reads / 450 writes. Now that I've tested the additional drives, I suspect that my laptop's chipset/SATA interface is limiting the read to around 530. I'll do some more testing the next time I build a desktop. .
