Pros: Looks like a powder coat finish. Yes the coating will start to degrade when exposed to brake fluid and brake cleaner but this is normal after doing some quick research on the subject. There seem to be many different types of powder coating (PC), ceramic, molybdenum, etc. that determine the level of chemical resistance; along with the PC burn-in/curing process. The PC on these hooks appears to be quite thick so it takes a lot of pressure to remove this staining. To illustrate, I exposed/dipped the end of a hook in brake cleaner several times, then quickly cleaned in a small stroke with a quarter (coin) under good pressure for about 30 seconds. Therefore, although much of the yellow was chopped off in the form of muddy shavings, the scraping still did not even expose the metal. Another plus is that they are pretty rigid. Cons: The size is far from the same. They are literally smaller in every advertised dimension. The biggest disadvantage, however, is that the hooks are too small. Hook width is critical if you want them to work with a wide variety of calipers. These are very narrow hooks. They are advertised as 3 inches but are actually 1 and 5/8. The overall length is advertised as 9 inches but they are actually 8 and 3/8 lengths. The thickness of the rod is about 1/64th less than the advertised 1/4th, but it doesn't really matter that much. I bought these because the dimensions and picture shown matched what I was looking for in this tool. What I got was far from that, hence the one star rating. I've decided to use them for now just in case there's a small chance I'm wrong and they're not useless on a significant caliper scale. If they surprise me, I'll raise the stars. Update: Haven't found anything they don't work with yet. Rating increased from 2 to 4 stars. Star lost due to size distortion.
