Finally trying to use the CD slot! Owner of a 2015 Subaru Outback and the design of the dashboard renders any vent holder useless due to the shape of the vents. . Looking for an alternative I decided to try this product and I am impressed with both the product itself and iOttie's customer service. After I bought an external smaller round magnet, the magnet wouldn't stay on my phone case for my Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Tried 4 different ways but the case was too thick with protrusions on the outside. Eventually the outer magnet didn't stick to anything and just detached from the phone. I contacted iOttie about the issue and they just sent me a new product, wow that was impressive. I got really lucky with the Spigen Armor case for my Note 5 so I bought it and it's perfect. The internal magnet was enough to keep the phone in place, although it slipped a bit when I hit bumps. Put on an external magnet and it becomes solid, the phone doesn't move at all. The CD slot is above the backup screen so I can't see it when plugged in, but that's only important when backing up as it otherwise obscures the radio, but I can see my favorites and easily reach the handles . Since the Subaru places most of the controls well on the steering wheel, I really don't need to refer to the screen very often. The leg stretcher on the device prevents the phone from bouncing. I can try an extra piece to tighten the CD bay but it's pretty solid for now. I'm curious to see how the magnet will continue to hold up on hot days, but that won't be an issue until next year. .
