Haven't used it yet but I see a silly bug when I first open it. Trouble with the clamshell to keep dust out of the mouthpiece. However, the principle of operation of a two-way valve is that when the water is closed, the part of the valve through which the water will flow when open is open from the outside. Essentially, when the water is shut off, the inside of the hose is open. See my photo. The hole in the little white piece is where the water goes through when the water is on. Also, and I knew this before ordering, they should include a longer hose. The current length of tubing will be difficult to route from mid-upper back along backpack strap to mid-chest. When the hose is too long, it is very easy for the user to shorten it, but difficult to make it longer. (I plan to try the inline filter which makes the hose long enough for my needs.
