Review on 6ft White Cable Matters Mini DisplayPort to DVI Cable - Thunderbolt 2 Compatible by Chelsea Williams

Just what I needed to expand my Macbook Pro desktop to dual monitors

This revolved around the perfect solution to the problem I had when buying a second monitor for my Macbook Pro. I wanted to test the look of a video I'm editing in Premiere Pro, hence the Dell HD monitor. The monitor comes with a VGA connection, but I wanted the higher resolution that you can get with HDMI or DVI. Of course, you can connect an HDMI cable to the Macbook Pro's HDMI port and then to the monitor's HDMI input, but the laptop will only display that on an external monitor. I then tried an HDMI to DVI cable and it extended the monitor, but for some reason fonts and graphics didn't display well on the screen. I thought I had a bad screen, except when watching a video it worked great. After a bit of research, I found that the HDMI output signal wasn't able to display the desktop properly on an external monitor, and I needed something that went from my Thunderbolt/Mini Display Port to the monitor's DVI input. This cable worked great. This cable is very well made and I am very happy with it.

Pros
  • Convenient Thunderbolt to DVI cable for connecting a Mini DisplayPort (Mini DP or mDP)/Thunderbolt 2 compatible computer directly to a DVI capable Monitor or Projector
Cons
  • Weight
