Review on πŸŒ™ Moonrays 95534: Brighten Your Nights with Incandescent White Light! by Javarie Malick

Good lighting but some design flaws.

I bought this kit to replace a worn out existing low voltage lighting system. My plan was to reuse any existing components that were already there. You must use the wiring that came with the headlights. The terminals on each bulb are small, sharp pins that are pressed into the wire's insulation to make contact. If the insulation (sheath) of the wire is not correct, it will be almost impossible to touch the wire when crimping. The wire they put in worked fine and made the connection on the first try, but I used a flathead screwdriver to push it in. The included cam-lock clamp, which presses down on the wire and holds it in place, didn't work properly for the connection. I connect my old wires to theirs so there's nothing to dig into. All parts are made of plastic. The timer turns on at dusk and off at dawn. Further settings are not possible. I kept my old control box due to time constraints. After assembly and installation, the black plastic covers can be mounted on the headlights. The system failed here. Lids (tops) have no locking mechanism at all. They just lie on the light. And rest freely. I've had them for a week now and have had to look around the garden for the tops because the wind has blown them away. And when I say wind, I mean a little wind. They blow away when there is more than one breeze. Did I manage to find her? Yes. This spring I won't notice they're gone and find them with a lawnmower? Probably. I guess the company sells tops, but I'll often have to buy new ones. Which makes up for the cheap price. All in all, a $50 set isn't that bad. The reason for only 3 stars is the cam-lock wired connection, the non-programmable controls and the pesky falling tops issue. Of course I can glue them on, but the manufacturer had to make them to snap into place. Summary: If you're looking for inexpensive coverage for a season or two, this is a good one. If you want something for the extended service I would spend a little more and get a better set.
