I do not recommend this product

Unfortunately, due to heavy rain, I did not turn on the light until the return window of this product was closed. Of the ten lightbulbs in the kit, only five worked at first. On the second day only four of the ten lamps worked. I pierced and re-pierced the wires in the sockets of the lamps and did my best to make sure there was at least some current going to the lamp terminals. I also checked each bulb multiple times. Either the bulbs or the base are defective. I have installed many landscaping

Great for low cost. Plan the layout and assemble before installation.

Ideal for short runs around the house. Position the photocell away from the light source to avoid short cycles. Pin connections are a little tricky, so press down firmly on the cable insulation to make good contact. Use the included lightweight cable, which is thinner. If desired, you can replace the bulbs from the kit with landscape LEDs for more lighting. It is best to firmly attach and test all 10 lamps to the cable before installing brackets and burying the cable. If you need wider spacing…

Don't worry, no really, don't worry!

Please don't waste your time buying these lamps. If you've bought and installed landscape lights, you really want to scold the person who designed those lights. This kit probably won't cost more than $5 in plastic materials to make. I usually try to give manufacturers a break on a few things, but this set is just ridiculous. The tops don't really screw down.2. You have to literally chain each light by running a wire up and down the pole for each light.3. I had to use needle nose pliers and a…

Great value for money

I bought these as an inexpensive replacement for our Malibu flashlights which our dog loved to chew and destroy. Buying a complete Moonray kit was cheaper than buying spare parts for a Malibus. I had to run the shaft 100 feet so I bought an additional 50 feet of wire from my local Lowes store. Installation wasn't too difficult, some lights required careful alignment of the pins to the wire or a bit of stripping as mentioned in other posts, but no hiccups. About a week later I installed LED…

Bad Transformers straight out of the box

Bought two sets. Bad transformers straight out of the box. It will work for a while, the transformers will heat up and turn off. Only 9 out of 10 bulbs per chain worked. Moonrays customer service has been great. No problem, they sent me two new transformers and 20 spare bulbs. I appreciate it very much. Unfortunately, one of the replaced transformers stopped working after a few weeks. During that time I only had problems with these headlights. Out of 18 sometimes 8 or 9 would not turn on due to

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons

Considering its price, I'm not really complaining. They work as advertised and are amazingly durable. Let's see how they hold up in the harsh Central California heat. There were two problems I had but I was able to solve them by buying 2 packs: 1) Your branded clips are bad. Where the cord meets the outlet there are two prongs and that cheap screw that doesn't work so the bulbs never connect. I ended up manually inserting the wire into the pins with a flathead and then inserting a plastic screw

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

All reviews were helpful and based on previous reviews I had a positive experience. When my headlights arrived and I saw how everything fit together, I decided to make a slight modification to the wire during installation. With all the problems people had with these lamps, it was obvious that good electrical contact between the cord and the pins on the socket was a design weakness. I really didn't want to buy 14 gauge cable, which isn't really needed in terms of bandwidth, and this is how I…

Good lighting but some design flaws.

I bought this kit to replace a worn out existing low voltage lighting system. My plan was to reuse any existing components that were already there. You must use the wiring that came with the headlights. The terminals on each bulb are small, sharp pins that are pressed into the wire's insulation to make contact. If the insulation (sheath) of the wire is not correct, it will be almost impossible to touch the wire when crimping. The wire they put in worked fine and made the connection on the first

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • I will add later
