At the time of writing this article I have had this knife for about a week. When I first picked it up, I was very impressed. It's a great tip to handle and much heavier than my 8" Wusthof chef's knife, which I really liked. I used it almost immediately to smash a bag of onions for french onion soup and it ripped them open with no problem. However, I noticed it the other day while washing and noticed two scratches on the blade. Worst of all it came in contact with my cutting board and I only wash knives by hand. I also never put it in the sink and make sure to use the blade. Protect them when you take them with you. I've been using my WΓΌsthof knife for about 4 years, the blade is still in almost perfect condition. I no longer trust the quality of the steel on this blade, although it looks and feels good.
