This is a full-featured legacy hard drive adapter with Molex power supply and AC adapter. Adapter. If you only have SATA or 2.5" drives, you can get a cheaper product without this added feature. This device is a simple cheap piece of plastic with adapters on three sides for three types of hard drive interfaces. You can only use one type of drive at a time, although it's fun to plug in three at once and ask the IT pros for help. Older hard drives require jumper settings, so keep that in mind and experiment. My advice is to remove the jumper. Older drives used a jumper to set interrupt priority on the cable path. Removing the jumper tells the drive that nothing else is present on the channel, bypassing the problem. This works with USB 3.0. I would like less speed. Compatibility is a big issue here, Windows 7 or Windows XP works better than Windows 10 which had some options removed. Consider getting a bootable Linux USB drive to mount the drive and copy it. This is really only relevant for occasional disk copying. It gets hot and I wouldn't use it for a long time. I also noticed that the IDE port isn't quite the right size. The pins all fit, but there is a gap. It is important. You can break or bend the pin if you're not careful with all that extra play. If you don't have steady hands, get an IDE cable to make it more secure on the drive. Ultimately it works. This is important.
