They are very stable, the lids open without much effort and close well. The cups don't leak (one of these sat on my desk for 2 days and didn't even get soft) but liquids will leak if you hold them upside down because the lids have holes for steam to escape. avoid, but they work great in the microwave. If you're worried about leaks from the holes in the lid, you can wrap the mug in plastic wrap before putting the lid on and they'll make a good seal. Just remove the plastic in front of the microwave. I will definitely buy these again.
