Review on πŸ”§ iFixit Magnetic Project Mat: The Ultimate Magnetized Work Surface for Electronics, Phone, and Laptop Repair by Paul Weakland

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good grip and cheaper than buying directly. Good buy.

This is the professional version of the iFixit magnetic pads. It comes in a white box on top of a blue box instead of a white plastic blister, and it's definitely a thicker model. This pillow is quite firm and definitely doesn't pucker if that bothers you. I've already had the opportunity to use it today and I love it. Hopefully no more screws are lost. The grip is fantastic as you can see in the picture where the mat is held upright with a couple of tweezers and lots of nuts and bolts and the entire surface of the mat is magnetic. Just in case I threw it in the fridge to see if it would snag or slide off and it stuck straight away and it actually took a little effort to pull it off. By the way. It is cheaper to buy this product here on Amazon than to buy it directly from the manufacturer's website and also pay the cheapest shipping. The cheapest option I was given on the east coast was $9.30 for a $19.99 item. Got it for free with Prime next day - don't know how they do it. Everything about the product is great, the shipping was quicker than I needed for the item to arrive the next day. No complaints. My only comment concerns the many other items ifixit sells here and on their own website. Why so many packages? I understand you want to protect the product in transit, but that's almost (if not always) complete overkill. Honestly, one wonders if ifixit owns a cardboard factory. I'd happily pay a little less for a smaller package that gets the job done without going overboard.
