Personally I do not recommend anyone under the age of 18. old! I also do NOT recommend an automatic dishwasher; Wash/Rinse ONLY IN COLD WATER TAP for cleaning! USE ONLY A SMALL KITCHEN BRUSH OR BOTTLE BRUSH (not included) to clean internals if food items are not rinsed with cold tap water! Blades are SUPER SHARP! Clear instructions, excellent packaging, quality components. It seems durable for long-term home use, NOT for commercial kitchen use. AGAIN: IF YOU VALUE YOUR FINGERS, DO NOT USE THEM TO CLEAN PORTS OR KNIVES! Easily folds up for storage. Bonus 1: The bottom rim and legs are made of nice silicone that prevents slipping during use. Bonus 2: A clear plastic bowl with an airtight snap-on lid. Watch the video of how the mandolin fits into this dining bowl for slicing, slicing and shredding. Now I'd like to see how the blades, with proper care, retain the sharpness of a razor over time. This design is far superior to more expensive open blade mandolins in terms of ease of use and safety. My first rating after a few uses: 1+! My salads look absolutely artful!
