The threaded hole where the clamping screw is screwed is too small for the screw. It would have been almost impossible to hand tighten the screw after the first few turns and I tried. I managed to unscrew it using a large crescent wrench clamped around the black plastic screw handle. After pressing, the screw now turns easily enough. So some imprecise handling with this product, but not a fatal error. After this issue was resolved, it attached nicely to the back of my desk and seems to be working fine.
