Took it to test. 2 nights in Idaho. Works as advertised, was able to send and receive messages. From time to time you have to be in a good area, so sometimes the news went quickly and sometimes it took a while. I've read that the Garmin in Reach Mini does the same thing. The sign up button with a preset message is good, you can send it indefinitely so you don't use up your credit. It also broadcasts the location. The battery life is ok as stated. I love that you pay a simple monthly fee of 18 per month and renew the credits when you're not using them. No annual fee like Garmin. It's small and light. I think the app has a lot of things on it. Possibly loosen. Add a signal strength bar and not an in-app service bar so we don't just have to rely on the signal indicator on the device. I would buy again in the short term.
