Cheap alternative to more expensive models

So a good little range finder for about half what one of the well known brands would cost. This finder lacks practical functions. it's pretty accurate. I tested it at my local field and came up with 100 yard marks and 50 yard marks and both times accuracy was within a yard. 101 yards and 51 yards hitting the green right on the cup. It was less accurate when it came to using flag mode. I couldn't quite master this mode and the trees behind the flagpole were always measured. I'm not sure if I didn't type it in correctly because the instruction manual literally reads like a physics textbook. or if it's just not exactly designed for that. This was ordered by me solely as a golf range finder. Otherwise I'm not a hunter and not a sportsman. It has 5 modes, some of which (e.g. speed measurement) may be more useful for hunters. 5 modes: 1. Clear weather 2. Fog 3. Target 4. Multi target 5. Target speed measurement. It has a 6x magnification which might not be the best for bird watching but perfect for golf. An accuracy of up to 1000 meters is specified. However, at 6x magnification, I can't imagine that it can accurately increase the distance equivalent to 10 football pitches. The 7-degree field of view is also pretty good considering the cheap price. I was very happy to see that it comes with a CR2 battery which mentioned the device lasts up to 1000 minutes of continuous use. The dual lenses feature a BAK4 prism lens with high light transmission. This may not matter much to the average golfer, but it's quite impressive as just a decade ago it would have been almost unthinkable to find this type of lens and laser technology in a device under $500 let alone $100! You basically don't get shadow edges around the image with such a good lens. The focus is good and adjustable. The best thing about this device is how quickly it locks onto a target and estimates the distance. It literally takes a second or two if you have a solid hand. There's also the way the device accounts for incline, another handy feature for golfers. This includes distance with angle and tilt adjustment. The device comes with a wrist strap and case, as well as a rechargeable battery. Many of the more expensive devices are metal and have a strong magnet on one side, which is very handy as they stick directly to the golf cart. This block is mostly made of plastic. It looks more like a child's toy than a piece of sports equipment and I wouldn't dare drop it. However, with a quarter pound weight and compact size, you can easily slip it in your pocket during a round. the price of a better known and better made viewfinder. The amount of technology that goes into this device is pretty amazing for a price tag of under $100! If I were a serious golfer, I would go for something a little heavier with a few extra features. But given my disability and the fact that I only play a few rounds a month, this is perfectly adequate for my needs. (Also note that the packaging is very cheap. No graphics etc so as a gift it doesn't look like you spent a lot of money.) The main downsides are durability and ease of use. If you know about technology and physics, you will most likely quickly master all the functions. If you're like me and a bit slow with technology, it will serve you well for the basic functions you bought it for. If I can't see the green from my location, I instead try to focus on the nearest tree, rock, or ridge and then figure it out. The Pinty 1000 is a great product that should add a few shots to your game, or at least make club selection less of a hassle. It's worth the money for that alone!
