We have a small, oddly decorated living room, so I always assumed that a robot vacuum just wouldn't work in our space. My wife took it on a whim so we decided to give it a try. After an initial mishap where we thought it was sitting on the charging dock the other way around and then couldn't figure out why it wouldn't turn on, we charged it enough to give it a try. Living room, it immediately went from "it" to "it". We hung around and watched him work, weaving the carpet, finding his way over the threshold to the dining room's hardwood floor and then into the tiled kitchen. He also collected a surprising amount, especially considering how small the basket is. The best part was watching him overcome obstacles. We had a bunch of stuff under the dining table and for a while we were sure it would be stuck there forever, but after a few minutes of trying it finally found a way out. Since we didn't fully charge it, a certain feeling of fatigue set in when it finally made its way back to the charging station. We almost thought he wouldn't survive, but he obviously knew how much battery he had left to get there. OK, enough of the story. A couple of notes: The remote control is fine, but I wish there was an app. Some functions can be selected manually via the remote control, but you have to decide beforehand how you want to delete them. The programming function is the worst. You push a button and the cleaning starts in an hour. It then basically decides it's time to clean up until you pick another time and wait an hour. So if you want him to clean at noon, you have to be home by 11am to tell him. The noise level is okay. We only had to turn up our TV a few steps to completely ignore him. The wipe function is frankly ridiculous. You'll need to replace the dust bin with a water tank, replace the brushes with a pad, and if you have carpet you'll need to block things to keep them on washable surfaces. In the time it takes I can really clean the floors instead of having a robot pull a damp cloth over them. Use it as a vacuum cleaner and be happy with it.
