Temperature lag unacceptable

I used to have a very similar meat thermometer that would register temperature and doneness in about 5-10 seconds. This thing takes half a minute or more to register the temperature. And it was inaccurate. He tells me that the meat (after many, many seconds) heats up to 130 degrees when it's actually 160 degrees and the meat is undercooked. All this time the grill lid is open and the meat is cooked unevenly. Recommendation: Don't waste your money. There are better meat thermometers out there.
