So where it can be used it will work great. The spring that holds everything in place is strong enough to be fully usable and will hold everything securely in place - as long as you have the right bumper on the dash. I assume most passenger cars don't have the appropriate configuration on the center console, which is where I assume most people will be trying to find their phone. What most cars will have is the ability to use it right on the dash behind the steering wheel. But at least in my case it doesn't really work for me unless my phone sits front and center and literally blocks my view of the road! But where it can be used, I think it's great. In fact it's now in my travel kit for use with rental cars and that's exactly what I wanted to use it for. I keep this handy, as well as one of those vent magnets, to use with my phone so I have all my usual functions at my fingertips within seconds of getting in my rental car. That's a beautiful thing. Note that even if you have a bar it can work on the center console if it's tilted too much the spring system won't be able to hold everything in place and will slip. doesn't cause much distraction the moment you hit a pothole or turn and the like. Production-wise, everything is very good and tight, which I like. I have a fairly large phone and need to hold the magnetic plate on the bottom so it doesn't interfere with the wireless charging feature (from my phone itself, not this phone mount). Although the phone is held from the bottom instead of the middle, the magnetic force of this product is strong enough to keep my phone upright. I think this is important to note as the magnet in many old phone holders is not strong enough to hold my phone upright and it starts to slide or tip to one side or the other quickly. Remember that if you really want your phone to stay in place, especially if you have a larger one, you want the metal plate to rest on the back of your case, not between your ailing case and your phone. Otherwise, I don't think you'll have a strong enough connection to keep your phone in place. Obviously, the whole point of a front and center phone like this is to keep us all as hands-free as possible. and avoid distractions while driving. I use Google Maps and Waze for all my navigation and it works great. It also gives me the ability to hold my phone in front of and at eye level, rather than on my lap or to the side where my gaze would be completely distracted from the road. Overall it's a good thing that helps me avoid any circumstances that could be dangerous and also allows me to have my hands completely free. Have fun driving!
