My house was built with 1-6 splitters on the wall outside the house, one split was a cable modem. My internet connection jumps up and down for no reason. Called my ISP with a cable modem and they had no idea. I asked them if splitting 1 through 6 might be a problem and they said no. They even sent a technician to check everything and didn't see any problems. I only have 3 active coax ports - a cable modem and 2 cable boxes. So all I really need is a 1 to 3 split. I disabled the unused splitters and replaced the old splitters with this unbalanced splitter. So far my internet line is stable and the cable boxes work as they are. Remove any unnecessary subdivisions if you can.
