Review on ๐Ÿ”Š Rechargeable & Solar Powered Dual Sub Woofer Wireless Bluetooth Sound System - Rugged Rukus Xtreme+ by Matt Abba

Nice design but could use some polishing.

I got this device a few falls ago while working at a remote wilderness camp. I needed a way to play music without electricity and at the same time charge my MP3 player for a completely offline system. This device, while functional, is not efficient at all. In direct sunlight, a full charge took about 2 hours. That doesn't sound bad until you consider that playing music with a simple accessory cable will drain the battery back to 0 in almost the same amount of time. We also tried charging our phone with it once and it went up about 10% per hour while constantly draining the device's battery (can't play music etc.). So it was practically a whole day without electricity. And charging in any place other than direct sunlight is not possible. Now it is possible that my device was damaged because the solar panel rubbed against the saddle at some point. But for something that's primarily described as 'rugged', it's also worth mentioning. The sound quality itself was good, but I found the volume not high enough for outdoor use. I rarely had maximum volume. When chopping wood or cooking, I often had to move the speaker about 4 feet away from me, which almost negated the point of an external speaker. It never got "too loud" like other speakers I've had. However, at the end of the day I was grateful that I had this product. While it may need some tweaking, it's a functional perk to have in the wild.

Pros
  • Well built
Cons
  • A long time ago
