Review on πŸ”‹ 2-Pack Battery Operated FIRST ALERT CO400 Carbon Monoxide Detector - No Outlet Required by Stephen Thomas

EXTREMELY poor design replacing the same model

I ordered this First Alert carbon monoxide alarm because it was the same model as the one I was replacing thinking I could easily remove the old one on our wall and simple attach again using the same screw holes in our wall (it's the same model after all). GOOD: The screw holes don't line up so a second set of screw holes has to be drilled in the wall! Also, the holes in the new device are so close to the holes in the old device that drilling the new holes literally touches the old holes, making those plastic dowels very unlikely to stay in place. What a stupid design! For a company that might want a consumer to replace an old carbon monoxide alarm with a new model, it didn't consider how much trouble moving the screw holes on the device would cause. The unit itself is the same size so it was reasonable to assume that the screw holes would line up, eliminating the need for patching, repainting etc. I seriously doubt I would ever buy any other First Alert product. Your design team has to use their own products to understand that this change is VERY disappointing for consumers who just want the same size in the same place with the same screw holes without a major wall overhaul.
