Nothing worse than what happens in the middle of the night

Please read and understand. When buying, pay attention to the date of manufacture. I need to read the reviews in detail. I bought 3 packs, one of them squeaked (5 beeps - end of life) 1 month after installation and also after the return period. I looked at the date of manufacture and it's November 2010. I'll throw them all away, it's ok except it happens in the middle of the night. PLEASE check these before the return period expires. David

Pros
  • It's all right!
Cons
  • Difficult to say

Lasted less than a year

Like many others, this carbon monoxide alarm only lasted a few months before failing (3 beeps in the middle of the night indicate a malfunction). Replacing the battery seemed to fix the problem for a few weeks, but the problem reappeared somewhat randomly. Worse, we had a real problem when our heater exhaust came loose; The alarm clock may have squeaked, but we're used to ignoring it and just cleaning it in another room for a while. The craftsmen said we were lucky to be alive.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Dull packaging

boo! It's already dead! 150 days.

Bought on March 30, 2017 and died just before the end of August. It started chirping like the battery needed replacing, so we put a new copper plate in. It was still beeping. We went outside to make sure it wasn't alerting us to CO levels. Battery empty, battery inserted, another new battery, third new battery, nothing changed. We ended up just removing the battery. Obviously this is the death knell for the expected lifespan of 7 years. Mine has the manufacture date "2016 Jun 07".

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Empty

I would give good ratings because it's easy to use and I think it will work properly, but after only having it for a few months one device already started the ERR code to beep. This code means the end of life. It is written on the blocks that they have a service life of 7 years once they have been used. Well 2 months is a far cry from 7 years but I checked the date of manufacture and it was manufactured in October 2006 which is why Revain sells 10 year old detectors. and apparently the date of…

Unreliable, cheaply made and broken

I decided to buy the same brand as the last one which lasted 7 years. First, the device I received did not match the product image. No problem. Trying to open the battery compartment was quite a feat, especially since the instructions refer to a different device, but don't worry, it's just a plastic sliding door. Had to use a screwdriver to move it, there is no sliding in this door. The battery compartment now opens easily enough to push 9V with little fingers. I press the test button, the…

EXTREMELY poor design replacing the same model

I ordered this First Alert carbon monoxide alarm because it was the same model as the one I was replacing thinking I could easily remove the old one on our wall and simple attach again using the same screw holes in our wall (it's the same model after all). GOOD: The screw holes don't line up so a second set of screw holes has to be drilled in the wall! Also, the holes in the new device are so close to the holes in the old device that drilling the new holes literally touches the old holes…

Does not work optimally in carbon monoxide detectors

I'm the kind of person who buys a lot of things online and they usually sit in a box for weeks before they're opened. We needed a new carbon monoxide detector because one of them was showing signs of age. I ordered this one and it was about 3.5 weeks in the package. When I finally opened it up and put the battery in, it turned out that it didn't work. I figured maybe it was the cheap factory battery that came with it, so I went ahead and bought a Duracell. No, that didn't work either. I admit…
