I decided to buy the same brand as the last one which lasted 7 years. First, the device I received did not match the product image. No problem. Trying to open the battery compartment was quite a feat, especially since the instructions refer to a different device, but don't worry, it's just a plastic sliding door. Had to use a screwdriver to move it, there is no sliding in this door. The battery compartment now opens easily enough to push 9V with little fingers. I press the test button, the plastic falls under my finger. Do you mean that seriously? The alarm clock does not sound. Pulled and pushed plastic back in place, still no sound. After 30 seconds it beeps and I had to remove the battery. Going back to the package, buying another brand.
