Review on eSynic 1080P HDMI Audio Extractor: HDMI to HDMI + Optical TOSLINK SPDIF + Analog RCA L/R +3.5mm Jack Stereo Audio Video Splitter Converter by Michael Welborn

Worked great for 5 months.

Worked great for 5 months. Then the sound was distorted, and the volume changed dramatically from minute to minute. I restarted the iSync device several times, which temporarily fixed the problem, but the problem reappeared after about half an hour. I checked the settings on the iSync device and made sure they are correct (e.g. 2ch output, which was the correct setting for my situation and the easiest setting for the iSync device). I checked all the settings on my input device and they were all correct (e.g. Stereo PCM, NOT Dolby which I know can cause problems). I've also checked everything else in the audio chain (input device, output device, cables, power supply, etc.) and confirmed that they are all working properly, so the problem is clearly with the iSynic device. The item is covered by a 1 year guarantee so I contacted Revain CS about this which is usually a great experience but this time they ended up offering me a phone number for a Hong Kong company. Since this item only cost me $20, I decided it wasn't worth my time, so I'm instead posting this review as a warning to other potential customers and consider purchasing another device from a different manufacturer in Texas. Hope this lasts a little longer.

Pros
  • Wide compatibility
Cons
  • Very expensive
