Review on Enhanced DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX400 CPU Air Cooler | 4 Heatpipes, 120mm PWM Fan, Blue LED | Intel & AMD CPU Compatible (AM4 Support) by Lakeem Pickel

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Difficult to install into an already built system, but worth it.

I decided to try this cooler with my Ryzen 5 2600 build, chose the push-pull configuration with the included Deepcool fan and the optional Noctua NF-P12 fan with 1700 rpm. Replacing the original AMD cooler with this one was not easy due to the lack of space. I ended up having to remove all of the existing case fans and graphics cards to get the job done. It was definitely worth it in the end as my CPU gets a lot cooler. Since installation, the temperature has not exceeded 65°C (under extreme loads). The idle temperature varies between 29 and 38 degrees. Oh, I used Arctic MX-4 paste in case you're wondering. If you decide to go through with it, make sure your CPU is well fried (to soften the paste) before removing the old heatsink. Otherwise, the old thermal paste will stick your CPU and heatsink together and you'll end up ripping your CPU out of its socket, likely by bending some pins or worse. Also, read the instructions on the outside of the box completely so you don't make the wrong assumptions about the installation like I did. These two tips will save you a lot of time and nerves, trust me. 4 stars - excellent value for money! I would never recommend this block to hobbyists because the installation process was such a headache! IMHO a slightly different plan could make the installation process much easier. Keep in mind that if you replace the stock cooler with this beast, you'll have a lot less room to work in your case. Honestly, I would only recommend this device to those who are going to put it in a new build of the system. Installing on a motherboard that's already mounted in a case is just plain stupid and frustrating. Good luck folks!

Pros
  • 4 sintered powder heat pipes directly touching the CPU surface
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
