Cook faster with Farberware Classic Stainless Steel Cookware

I purchased this 15 piece Farberware Classic Stainless Steel Cookware Set to prevent metal or enamel based discoloration on my new smooth finish series which uses aluminum and copper or enamelled pans pose a risk of carryover. At first glance, the mirrored finish and bell-shaped stainless steel lids are not just art, but also functional (a rarity in the cookware space, where the aesthetic of utility design reigns supreme). Good news? This dish has a comfortable weight, meaning not too heavy. (Choosing premium cookware would add weight as well as cost, which in turn could increase the risk of cracking the smooth cooking surface.) Also, these Faberware Classic pots and pans heat up much better than my previous copper cookware. thanks to the weighted flat base that uses an aluminum core. Customers who may also be purchasing this cookware for use on a smooth cooktop should note the unsuitability of the pans. Contrary to the description, the pans are made of aluminum without a stainless steel lining. Also, it's not even clear if the nonstick coating contains PFOA, because the accompanying literature doesn't say it either. (I really wish Farberware was clearer on this. In the meantime, I've suggested to Revain that they correct their product description by stating that the pans in these sets are actually aluminum.) Considering I'm replacing the pans Must have in this 15 piece set - and it doesn't need the supplies that come with it - the price isn't that good. (As a suggestion to the manufacturer, they should replace the non-stick aluminum pans in these sets with their classic 8" and 10" stainless steel counterparts, sold separately.) So a strength alongside the attractive retro style is the uniformity of the cooking. The weak point is that the inner stainless steel has started to discolour/tarnish in every pot I've used in the past week, including the standard pot which has only been used for steaming so far! While discoloration may be inevitable with prolonged heavy use, 18/10 stainless steel should not discolor on first use! If I had to guess, this defect is the product of two things: 1) the interior is brushed stainless steel, which likely offers more surface area for heat/food bonding/dyeing, and 2) Chinese manufacturing, which I'm proposing all-American companies to be such as Farberware should consider manufacturing in the USA. (With lavish corporate tax cuts and tariffs hitting Chinese steel, vintage US-made cookware shouldn't be a pipe dream!) One final note: I had an issue with a pot handle that was a bit loose, but that was easily fixed with a Phillips screwdriver fix. Overall, I'd say that when you're hanging your pots and pans, this set can be a challenge to keep in new condition - bartender's friend aside from frequent use. On the other hand, if you value consistent warmth and classic style, and plan to tuck it away in a closet when not in use, this is a great choice.
