I have another one in a smaller size, but once Apple has gotten bigger, you might want to stick with that. I will keep buying these because you can tilt the screen at will, three different viewing angles. It has an elastic holder for the pen, but I don't use it. It features a magnetic closure that disables iPad/sleep mode and prevents battery drain. I like it because it's thin and doesn't scratch. Not sure if that will save him if he falls on concrete or a really hard surface. i really like mine
