For a shelf wider than 5 inches, of course!
We had some kid friendly shelves to put up and a look at the local hardware store and Home Depot and landed on this piece. Very sturdy, probably too strong for a 5 inch shelf. We also painted them white and put LED lighting underneath. Easy installation, proper size holes, 2 size screws with corners. Definitely better than homedepot options ;)
