I had one of these for almost a year when it broke and became unusable. The material used is not cheap plastic, but it is not high-performance plastic either. If you use it every day, it will break over time if you don't handle it very carefully. The design is amazing and the core of the apple pops right out. Most apple slicers cut into large chunks, but this one is better for smaller, thinner slices. Especially suitable for those who have children! The blades are sharp and cut through an apple in no time. But not harmful if you touch them when washing. And washing is a pleasure. All other apple knives I've used have bits stuck to the blades no matter how many times I've cleaned them. And I'd rather not keep my hands in contact with those blades for long. I love it so much that even though it cracked I ordered another one. The folding bottom makes it so convenient that it's worth buying another one.
