I had one of these for almost a year when it broke and became unusable. The material used is not cheap plastic, but it is not high-performance plastic either. If you use it every day, it will break over time if you don't handle it very carefully. The design is amazing and the core of the apple pops right out. I'm having trouble finding a 16 disc corer/slicer. I find 8 apple slices too thick. I had an 8/16 adjustable slicer but it was difficult to use and the slices were never even. Over time it became difficult to align the 16 discs, so I gave up on the adjustable models. Many slicers have angled blades so they don't cut the fruit all the way through.
