Rugged Little Code Reader

At $13.78 with free shipping, this tool has already paid for itself. I have diagnosed codes on 3 different vehicles. The first was a '98 Mazda B2500 that pulled 3 specific codes for CO2 sensors - lean fuel that was the result of a leaking intake manifold gasket. On Mazda I noticed that the reader barely connected to the obd2 connector, but on other vehicles this was not a problem. The second car was a Lexus LS430 02 which showed I had a bad O2 sensor. Replaced the sensor and cleared the code, a week later the check engine light didn't come back. Problem solved. The third car was a Chevy 2500HD 02. As you can see in the pictures below the reader shows 2 separate digits under the error code, in my case I had 5 codes. The first digit indicates the numeric code in the installation order, and the second digit indicates how many codes were installed. As you can see in the image below the reader has identified a P1683 trouble code which is the factory code for - The PCM needs to be re-flashed. Also code P0327 is a defective knock sensor, bank 1 defective connector or wiring harness. When used on Honda and Toyota vehicles it appears the scanner is not communicating. Please be patient and wait a few minutes while the scanner reads these vehicles. Easy to use. 1_ Plug in the obd22_ connector then turn on the ignition (works the same way when you start the car) 3_ press the scroll button and (1) - an error code is displayed, press enter to view the codes read 4_ to reset. Press "Enter" and use the scroll button until you see "Delete". You will be asked a yes or no question. Press Enter for Yes. Once the codes are cleared, start the car to ensure the CEL is no longer on. If you check the codes again on the scanner, the codes still show as pending. Once you unplug the scanner (power) and plug it back in, the scanner will not read the codes. Best of all, I left the reader on an outside bench overnight. and it started raining, I dried the reader, dried it with compressed air and kept it in a zip-top bag with rice for several days. Connected the reader to the obd2 port and it works exactly as I got it the first time. Photos can be blurry as I took them at night with a camera flash on an iPhone. You can't go wrong with this purchase.

Pros
