HANNLOMAX CD/MP3 Boombox AM/FM Stereo with USB and Bluetooth Stereo. Model Hannlomax HX-316CD. Excellent value for money. Why five out of five stars? Bluetooth is very important to me and works well. It does a great job of what I expected and what I bought it for. I can play MP3 files from a USB stick or from a CD. Great sound with full analog volume control means there's no sudden volume mute. Great for listening in the bedroom or on a bedside table that isn't too loud at the lowest volume. Great FM stereo band and they also included an AM band (see notes below). Includes power cord and instructions. Considering the features I wanted and what this stereo has to offer, this is a winner! To the HANNLOMAX design and build team, I say it's a job well done! Case colors include black or white. I love it! Possible things that others might find negative (but I don't care): No headphone jack, preset stations, remote control, display dimmer, cassette deck, clock or alarm. No car power cord or cigarette lighter plug. There is no aux cable included. The front USB slot is for playing files only, not for charging mobile devices. AM band performance may result in a loss of points/stars depending on how important it is to you. Short VHF antenna but does the job perfectly. Don't worry I didn't buy it for these reasons so they are not included in my 5 star rating. I haven't checked the AUX jack or run it on batteries. Battery life is unknown. Detailed specs what I like and some test results: AC/DC with regular power cord included. There is no wall transformer here. Operation with additional six type C batteries. Instruction manual included. Bluetooth. I've tested it with two brands of Android phones, an iPod touch, an ASUS Windows 10 2-in-1 netbook, a tablet and keyboard, and a Kindle Fire tablet. I haven't tested it with a Windows desktop yet. All of these mobile devices connected to Hannlomax without any problems. I even tried plugging and unplugging them fairly quickly and repeatedly with no issues. Hannlomax verbally says "connected" or "disconnected" which is great! I only had to set up my mobile devices once to recognize the HX-316 Hannlomax Bluetooth pairing code, and connecting and disconnecting was easy. 5/5 stars here and the main reason I bought it. MP3 player with USB flash drive on the front. Sole player! Mobile devices don't charge or record, but that's not what I bought it for. A long press on the mode button on the top of the device switches from CD player mode to USB player mode. Press and hold this button (important, this may take a few seconds) until the display shows the mode change. It will then display "----" for a few seconds, indicating that it is reading a disc or USB stick. 5/5 stars here and the second most important feature for me. CD and MP3 players. It plays regular audio CDs and CDs with MP3 files. By sliding the mode switch on the left side of the device to the middle position, the default mode is automatically set to CD player/MP3 player. The CD tray can only be opened and closed manually. 5/5 stars here and for me personally the third most important feature. FM stereo band (87MHz to 108MHz). The frequency display is digital. Adjustment is via a knob on the top, which is probably analogue, but does an excellent job of staying in place without drifting when I tried. In my test, stronger nearby stations didn't stop me from picking up weaker fringe stations. The antenna is telescopic and can be rotated 360 degrees. Hides under the handle when not in use. I'm very happy with the sound and FM reception here. 5/5 stars and fourth most important feature for me. This included the AM band (520-1710 kHz). Good, because some competitors only have FM. As soon as I select the station, the setting remains. Not the best or worst selectivity or sensitivity. I can get most of the local stations I need, even in urban areas where stations are close by. At night I can drive out of town with stations like 50kW. The tuning on the AM band may seem wide. Weaker local stations can be obscured by stronger stations on the watch face, especially at night when some stations need to reduce their power or change signal patterns. The antenna is built in. 2/5 stars for sensitivity and selectivity characteristics, but not a deal breaker. I didn't buy it for the AM band but it's nice to have. Overall: Nice case design, lightweight, sturdy handle that folds down when not in use, standard plug power cord means no need for a large wall-mounted transformer. look at. Love the fact that this product (HX-316-CD) comes in both black and white. Comes in a plain white box, ideal for gift wrapping. You could even consider the Hannlomax HX-315CD for a third color option (Black/Silver). Suggested locations for this stereo can be living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, studies, offices, waiting rooms or workshops.
