Perfect for 24 year old Challenger brand pickup tool box

They are perfect for 24 year old Challenger brand pickup tool box. -O-Mat spacer and works like a charm. As I've seen in some other reviews of similar racks, they are more than strong enough to deftly pop the lid open. There was also a 60lb version which would probably be overkill for my application. If you have a large and heavy lid, consider these. Given that they are fixed in the center of the lid and the mechanical advantage the lid has over them, even with an estimated 100lb load. combined force (2 x 50 pounds each), the lid closes easily with one hand. I used a digital luggage scale to measure the closing force required. It took 10.25 pounds to start with the lid fully open. force to move the lid. In the end, just before the lid closed, it dropped to 7.75 pounds. It was an early evening in mid-August with an outside temperature of 30 degrees Celsius. In winter, when the weather is frosty, I expect these values to drop a bit, since most gas shock absorbers lose some of their effectiveness in the cold. I wouldn't want to use anything lighter as I was concerned the lid wouldn't lift on its own in the winter months. Carefully measure your originals for closed length, open length and hole diameter. This size was perfect for me. The 10.2mm hole diameter is very close to 3/8" (10mm=0.4016", 3/8=0.3875"). If you feel the original hole in your like looks like a 3/8" hole, this may be the correct hole size. The 10.2mm number seemed a bit standard for the ones I was looking at here. I used vernier calipers to measure the inside diameter of the originals and it turned out to be 0.40" on the original units so I knew I was safe. It can be difficult to get a closed length number. Mine were completely blank, so I could move them back and forth with two fingers. If yours are still loaded, don't try to squeeze them. They can be quite dangerous if they are compressed and not installed for use. My photos show those installed and running plug-in units.
