Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great heavy polo!

Just bought a second shirt after wearing one 5 days a week last year in cool and cold weather (7 months). I decided to try this shirt after being frustrated with the poor durability of two generations of Under Armor polo shirts. The 5.11 polo shirt is significantly heavier and more durable; construction is excellent. The fabric feels very comfortable, like silk, doesn't stick (my main complaint about the UA Polo), washes and dries well. They wrinkle a little on the inside before the first few washes, after which they flatten out. I live near the wilderness and travel through the wilderness so all my clothes are washed and dried on HOT to kill the little stowaways. If they're taken out of the dryer quickly (or fluffed after 5 minutes) and hung up, they won't wrinkle. If you don't sweat in them, they're also good for a few days between cleansing, just like silk or wool. I'm 5ft 6in, 130lbs and buy medium sized that are comfortably roomy with just enough extra sleeves and body length so they stay tucked in and don't expose my wrists no matter how far I stretch. The cuffs are stretchy enough to lift my forearms but spring back immediately, unlike UA shirts which stay stretched until the next wash. The silky feel allows the shirt to gradually slip out of my waistband and 'blouse', but the extra mid-length keeps it from unbuttoning. My first shirt is holding up so well it's actually pretty hard to tell which one is new. It's one of the best work-to-casual ratios I've seen in years.

Pros
  • IMPROVED DESIGN. Practical design with two pen pockets on the left sleeve, integrated microphone loops, no cuff collar with flex strips on the collar, pleated sleeves and flame retardant melamine buttons.
Cons
  • Retired
