Review on πŸŽ’ Overview of CamelBak Motherlode Hydration Pack: 100oz (3.0L) Mil-Spec Crux Reservoir by Vincent Burton

Great backpack but consider BFM instead

I had a HAWG and a Sparta before I bought this backpack but wanted something more for weekend trips. I felt BFM was too big for my liking, so I gave Motherlode a try. Five stars for the quality of the product itself - Camelbak makes great packaging! But - if I were recommending to buyers I would consider BFM instead - depending on your needs. The Motherlode is essentially a stripped down BFMβ€”it lacks the BFM's side water bottle pockets, thick waist belt, and Futura straps. The Motherlode is a great backpack for people who want to customize their MOLLE side pack (and of course have the option to completely remove the side pockets) and don't care about a Futura webbing or a beefy hip belt. BFM would be a better choice for people who use it for hiking and the like. The BFM's harness system is the best I've seen in a combat pack - it fully adjusts to your torso size, and the waistbelt holds the pack's weight much better than the Motherlode. And the side water bottle pockets mean I don't have to buy additional MOLLE side pockets, which I would attach water bottle holders to anyway. I ended up bringing back Motherlode for BFM but I think both packs are good and it really depends on your needs.
