Nice bag but not as good as the original

The Motherlode original is much more durable. It's a good bag but the last original lasted ten years in use, I don't think the new one can. Not good.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Nothing

Organizational overload!

Perfect for my job! Holds a large 3-ring binder, raincoat, snacks, EDC and MacBook Pro essentials. I keep my laptop in my rear zip pocket for added protection from the foam padding and also for easy access. Tons of pockets for better organization! I like that the room grows taller rather than outward so it fits my body better and distributes the weight more evenly. Great package!

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Very expensive

I had a HAWG and a Sparta before I bought this backpack but wanted something more for weekend trips. I felt BFM was too big for my liking, so I gave Motherlode a try. Five stars for the quality of the product itself - Camelbak makes great packaging! But - if I were recommending to buyers I would consider BFM instead - depending on your needs. The Motherlode is essentially a stripped down BFMβ€”it lacks the BFM's side water bottle pockets, thick waist belt, and Futura straps. The Motherlode is a…

Nearly perfect. on Hydration Packs

I've had this pack for about six months now. I bought this to replace my smaller EDC Camelbak Transformer (which I've been using for about a decade and is still reliable). I also use it on short and long hikes, trail running and overnight solo hikes. left (when looking at the back of the pack) and not the top like most other Camelbak packs. Since the pocket is a bit deep, I have to twist my hand to reach something at the bottom of the pocket. It would be much more convenient to use the bag if…
