Do not use the instructions that came with the product.

The instructions that came with the rod holders specifically state that 2" holes must be drilled for installation. After doing this as directed, I found that a 2.25" diameter hole was needed. So that means either buying a DreMel tool to adjust this thing, or ignoring the instructions and starting with a 2.25" hole. This misinformation turned a 15 minute job into an hour project and a visit to my local hardware store. Buy a Dremel.
