2nd update. The company reworked the product and sent it to me for free in hopes of meeting my needs. The product has been improved and is indeed an improvement. The mechanism has a better grip than the first version I tried and is holding up well. To update. I was contacted by a company that offered a different solution. They sent me an adhesive disc for my dashboard so I can vacuum it up. I've tried it and it seems to be holding up. I read the reviews and bought. Used this once for my trip from Philadelphia to Richmond, Virginia. I installed it the night before following the instructions. He left the next day around noon. I have a 2008 Kia Sorento. I installed it on the smooth part of the dashboard above the radio. Unless your phone is very light (maybe the new Google Pixel) it will come loose. I had a Galaxy Note 3 and it was too heavy. One day it fell apart. I tried reconnecting it without my phone and it kept disconnecting. Not worth it for me. I'll try the windshield next, but I'm not optimistic. It would be better if you permanently bolted it to the dash, but I don't think it will wash off on a new car. I hope others have better luck. I can't give more than 1-2 stars
