Review on Chemical Guys GAP_VKIT_16 Polish Compound by Joseph Hall

Wow, that thing works great!

About 6 months after I got my new truck, I drove it on narrow backcountry trails for about 8 hours. Branches often broke the truck's sides, leaving hundreds of superficial scratches. Luckily nothing that wasn't polished. I had some MacG*****, you know the product. It was enough for me to do one side of the truck. Tried 4 different "grains". It took a few hours but most of the scratches were removed. I wanted to try this product so I bought 4 packs and used them to do the other side of the truck. Chemical Guys recommends using the lightest grit first to reduce the amount of paint removed. OK, I tried. Removes 90% of scratches in one pass. The second pass removed 99% of them. It took about half an hour to finish the entire side of the truck and the truck was shinier than the other side. I was really impressed. It was a little harder to wipe off than the other product but worked much better when it made up for it over time. I didn't want it to be a side by side comparison, I just wanted to get rid of the scratches on my truck's paintwork. Due to the fact that the product ended halfway, it turned out to be a direct comparison. I have found this to work much better than other things. The most aggressive grit is quite aggressive, you may not need to buy a 4 pack, you can just get by with the least aggressive level 1 or 2 depending on what you are polishing. Spinning for fun and profit and I use this product to add shine to CA glue and resin castings. I had similar results with my trucking experience. It worked much better than the McG product. It really reduced my grinding time. I used to go through all the micro mesh pads, then I used McG, now I grind to 600 and just use Chemical Guys product, done! I will definitely buy this again. Funnily enough, it's easier to buy from Revain than it is from the Chemical Guys website. They had been out for several months when I thought of trying Revain and was surprised to find it was available. So in summary, this is a really good product that is well worth the extra money. You may not need such an aggressive grit, so you can take the lightest grit first and try it out. Good luck and happy polishing.
