We have been using this feed for our chickens for over a year now. They're *extremely* good at it. I've had a hard time finding soy-free foods that are high in animal protein because chickens aren't vegetarians and soy has a lot more ammonia in their bedding, which is bad for their respiratory system. Whole grain mix, from 80% whole grain to 20% ultra croquettes by weight, with your choice of grain and oyster shell. This lining is dust free so nothing spills or gets in the dirt, spoils or attracts pests. My birds came out of the moult quickly, lay down very well, big and muscular, with shiny plumage. Since I switched to it, I haven't had a single illness. They also eat a ton less of that food because it's high in calories, so I'm saving a lot of money. Each adult bird is fed 1/4 scoop of Ultra Croquette and Whole Grain Mix each morning, supplemented with additional food or leftovers. Since they will eat anything, there is nothing to attract rodents overnight. I would not recommend feeding him free as they overeat and it is a waste of food. Offer things like old apples and pumpkins to fill up. The only time I give more is when it dips below freezing at night, they get an extra scoop before bed. Her poop is also a lot less smelly and harder since I switched her to this food.
