Good device, some design flaws

Nice device, but Logitech made some weird and annoying design decisions. First, the device turns itself off after a while, requiring the user to press the power button on top to make it respond again. All of our other Logitech cameras (a BCC950 and PTZ Pro combo) basically go to sleep and wake up instantly when using a video-capable app, so we didn't have to get up from the conference room table and walk around the room to find a button to press. Button. Secondly, this device has no real PTZ function. Instead, it uses its high resolution and wide field of view to "crop and zoom" digital PTZ. Given that Logitech is offering a camera for half the price of this motorized PTZ camera, it's almost inexcusable. I'm sure Logitech will say that a simpler design is more reliable. Okay, then why are you charging more for less? I'll end on something positive. The microphone array is quite good for a small to medium sized room. The microphone in the BCC950 is mostly useless, which is why we never use its built-in speaker, but this unit is actually a decent speaker. All in all, if this device went to sleep instead of turning off and had a motorized PTZ camera, it would be almost perfect. If you're planning on using a separate speakerphone anyway (we're using the Konftel 55Wx), save some cash and get the Logitech BCC950 instead. If you want a cleaner, simpler setup without a separate speaker, this really is the only game in town.

Cons
  • Don't really like it, it's ok
