Review on Compound Sharpening Leather Strop Paddle by Rick Rogers

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Better the second time

As some others have said I received a line with the compound already applied but I think it would be a mistake to sell it like that. When I used a sling, the mixture just flaked off, just staining my blade. I think it's possible that the compound could dry out over time and cause chipping. I scraped off the old caulk and rubbed on the new layer with the included caulk stick and it seemed to work better, but the lanyard slips when you use it so some rubber feet would be a nice addition to that, alright. Loop. I ended up just using my old piece of leather with the compound on it and it was much easier to use and razor sharp. UPDATE: I received a new unassembled sling in the mail without asking. I received an email right after my first mediocre review but I ignored it because I felt my good review shouldn't be bought but a new one showed up at my door anyway. The new lanyard is connection free and works great without smudging the blade. Customer satisfaction seems to be a priority for Beaver Craft Wood Work and I appreciate that, hence five stars. I think my good rating CAN be bought with a good belt and great customer service haha.

Pros
  • Polishing Paste Set: Various grinding pastes can be applied to the dressing block to polish the blade to a mirror finish during dressing.
Cons
  • No automatic
