Review on 🔩 KREG SDK C2W 700 Coarse 2-Inch Screw by Ans Brownlee

My wife and I used the Kreg Deck Jig and these screws to install our wood deck. Jig is great. Not many screws. We had very few problems during installation. There are pilot holes in the deck mount and they fit in easily. The problem manifested itself in the spring of the following year: a couple of seasons of tree movement was enough to break the bolts. They don't bend and aren't strong enough to keep the tree moving. More than 1/3 of the screws broke and the decking boards came loose. A further complication is where they break: at the connection point between the base and the frame. The screw thread sinks into the frame leaving a smooth core in the deck. This means that if you try to remove the screws, you won't be able to. They just spin in place. It's been a few years now and more than half the screws are broken, the floorboard is loose and I've only been able to replace a few of them. Don't buy these screws - they're just too brittle. I suspect that most reviews are written after installation. If I had written this review after building the deck I would have given it five stars. But they don't last. Invest in higher quality props - don't let them become the weak point of your deck investment.
