Shallow water use in cars and automotive electronics

Just completed a 22 mile trip in a shallow (4 foot average) river. I bought this unit because I have a fin powered Outback and I want to be able to see when I hit shallow water so as not to damage my fins. Forward 4 did a great job! I could see when I was diving to 1.5ft and was able to raise my fins and rudder and report the depth to my brother who was paddling behind me (so as not to damage his Bixby motor). I also used this device to map and contour the flow during our trip. Because it was so flat, I wasn't able to contour as much as I wanted, but the device did the job. After the ride I contoured a bit more and color coded certain depths so I knew when to slow down. Before the trip I went to Google Earth and marked the bridges and waypoints so I knew where we were during our trip. Everything was clear and precise. I tried the sonar feature when I got into deeper water (10ft) but to be honest I don't know enough about fish identification to give an honest review but the Clearwoo looked great. Basically I used a split screen with a map at the top and a sonar at the bottom. The screen was clearly visible and didn't bother me while pedaling/rowing. I connected this device to Nocqua Yak Battery Attack and it amazed him. Our trip lasted 8 hours (thanks to my brother being slow on his paddleboard) and the battery powered this unit the whole time and had a long lifespan. I probably should have just bought the Stiker 4 Plus as I won't be using the Clear very often but overall I'm very happy with this device and would buy it again.
