Review on πŸ’¨ GE Serenity Series Window Air Conditioner - 6,000 BTU, Ultra-Quiet Cooling with Remote - Ideal for 250 Square Feet by Joel Young

Bad "throw ", very quiet

I use it to cool a medium-sized bedroom. I have air conditioning, but I try to reduce energy use by cooling one room rather than the whole house whenever possible. On the plus side, it's very quiet. There is a separate dehumidifier, which was crucial for choosing this model. I live in a very humid state and figured I could just use a dehumidifier along with a fan on cool summer days. It worked well. Cons - This air conditioner has very poor draft, I had to put a table fan in front of it to circulate cooler air around the room. This is most likely a side effect of the Ultra Quiet feature, but obviously cancels out if you need to use a fan to make it fully functional. On the hottest days (95F and up, the real feeling is 110F and up) he struggles to hold the space. Cool. For example, if you sit still with a fan, you'll be fine, but if you try to do anything, you'll start sweating immediately. Installation was quick and easy. I'm smaller and not as strong and made it on my own. Took me about an hour mostly for unboxing and sealing. FYI, the insulation around the block and the window it is in is very important. It comes with a seal but I needed more than what was provided, you can take that into account. I'm so happy with it I don't want to go back, but I wouldn't buy this model again. However, I suspect someone with a smaller space to cool down or someone in a less tropical setting would be happier than me.

Pros
  • I like everything so far
Cons
  • For a long time
