The only thing you need to attach it to the controller is if you hold the controller on the side and need to press certain buttons (e.g. button 1 and 2), it's quite difficult because the buttons are far apart friend. I have the original controllers, so they didn't even develop Motion Plus. They now have Motion Plus built into the new controllers, but since I already had controllers I didn't want to spend another $40 on Motion Plus alone. So it's a good idea to buy them separately. However, if I buy more controllers, I will definitely buy them already built-in.
