I bought this slicer because it was the only slicer that I could use to cut round loaves (other slicers would only do rectangular or oval loaves). It took us two to cut the bread: one held the block and the other held the bread and cut it. Whenever I tried to cut thin slices, they came out like slices of bread. Not a whole slice and not thick enough to actually make a sandwich. Whenever I made thick slices, they came out very thick (good for toast or garlic/cheese bread, but too thick for sandwiches). The knife kept cutting off pieces of wood so I don't think it will last more than a few uses. That makes it too expensive for this purpose!
