Filter emits strong chemical odor

I have had the Blueair 211+ air purifier for over a year now and am very happy with it. The last replacement filter I ordered was a Blueair brand filter. Once installed and turned on, it immediately gave off a strong chemical smell strong enough to irritate my sinuses. I have my air purifier in the bedroom and the smell kept me awake. I decided to wait a few weeks to see if things get better. Not yet. Three weeks have passed. This is the third time I have changed the filter. Everything was fine with the other two filters. I sent an email to support via the Blueair website describing the problem but never received a response. I'll keep trying to get some sort of clearance from Blueair but things aren't looking good at the moment. Update: Still haven't received a reply from Blueair. I exited the filter and struggled with the smell. It took a full six weeks for the smell to subside enough that I didn't notice it when I entered the room. I haven't decided what to do. I don't want to suffer gassing for another six weeks. Another update, I tried calling Blueair again for an explanation on the filters polluting my air. In the end, the service representative took the call (waiting for 40 minutes). He agreed to send two new filters at once - free of charge. I just installed the first one and yes it pollutes the air with the same strong toxic smell. I have to turn off the filter at night so I can sleep. I think I'll buy a new air purifier that won't make me sick.
